The firm runs eight service lines — immigration, overseas education and foreign university admissions, business setup in India and Australia, investing abroad, cross-border advisory, NRI and expat advisory, and tax — each with its own team, process and track record.
The practice is led by its founder, Sumit Kumar, a Chartered Accountant and Registered Migration Agent who has spent 13 years in the immigration industry and continues to head casework across every service line.

Our founder's story
Advice from someone who has made the move
Sumit Kumar's understanding of migration isn't only professional. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant and working in audit, tax and corporate finance, he migrated from India to Melbourne as a skilled migrant in 2005, and became an Australian citizen in 2010.
He knows what it means to arrive in a new country with a visa in hand and everything else still to build: finding the first job, getting overseas qualifications and experience recognised, managing money across two countries and holding a family together through the change. He built his career in Melbourne in finance and accounting roles, then went on to lead finance functions in India and South-East Asia before founding Kompass in 2013.
That lived experience sits alongside his professional credentials as a Registered Migration Agent (MARN 1803385) and a Chartered Accountant. It is why Kompass looks beyond the visa grant to the life that follows it — whether a course leads to real work rights, whether a job offer is realistic, what the first year will actually cost, and what the tax position will be in both countries.
